1 John 2:28
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

Matthew 5:10-12
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…

1 Thessalonians 4:13-15
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

How Do We Live for What Truly Matters?

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”- Jesus to His disciples

Acts 1:9-11
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

  • People who fulfill Jesus’s purposes well BOTH love Him as their savior AND long to please Him as their judge.

Romans 8:1, 28

Philippians 2:3-5 (NASB)
3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 22:39

John 20:19-21
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

2 Corinthians 5:9-10
9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

  • We live with the right INTENTIONS.

Acts 1:8, 9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:17, 15

  • When our ACTIONS are motivated by GOOD INTENTIONS our soul has NO REGRETS.

Romans 1:18-20
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

How God reveals His love and truth to us:

  1. His Creation – Psalm 19:1
  2. His Word – 2 Timothy 3:16
  3. The Holy Spirit – John 16:13
  4. The Church – 1 Timothy 3:15

  • We make the right

  • Good intentions alone don’t have the power to change anything.

Proverbs 14:33-34 (NLT)
33 Wisdom is enshrined in an understanding heart; wisdom is not found among fools. 34 Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

Questions:

  1. What did you hear from the Holy Spirit?
  2. What will you do because of it?
  3. How can we pray for you?
