Sonship Through The Spirit

Romans 8:14, For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Receiving God’s Full Reward in Our Lives

  1. We RECEIVE OUR ADOPTION.

Romans 8:15, The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.

Ephesians 1:4-9, 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure.

2. We RELY ON GOD.

Romans 8:15, . . . rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.

John 14:18, I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

  • The greatest blessings Christ followers receive come through THEIR SUBMISSION TO GOD not THEIR STRENGTH!

3. We RESPECT GOD’S LEADERSHIP.

Romans 8:16, The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Matthew 11:20, Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.

Genesis 32:22-31; Matthew 11:21

Matthew 11:28-29, 28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

  • Consecration brings blessing not possible through determination.

Galatians 4:6-7, 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
