Micah 7:19 (NLT), Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

Ephesians 2:1-5 (NLT), 1Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sinsYou used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

Exodus 14-15

God’s Cure to Sin’s Curse

Misery Turned to Hope

Micah 7:1-3 (NLT), 1 How miserable I am! I feel like the fruit picker after the harvest who can find nothing to eat. Not a cluster of grapes or a single early fig can be found to satisfy my hunger. The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers. Both their hands are equally skilled at doing evil! Officials and judges alike demand bribes. The people with influence get what they want, and together they scheme to twist justice.

John 16:33

  1. SIN’S FASCINATION needs ELIMINATED.

Micah 7:7-8 (NLT), 7 As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me 8 Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

Genesis 3:6

2. SIN’S OPPRESSION needs ENDED.

Micah 7:9 (NLT), I will be patient as the Lord punishes me, for I have sinned against him. But after that, he will take up my case and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies . . .

Numbers 21:7- 8; 1 John 3:8

3. OUR OBSESSION with sin needs OVERCOME.

Micah 7:10, Then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame, she who said to me, “Where is the Lord your God? My eyes will see her downfall; even now she will be trampled underfoot like mire in the streets.

Genesis 4:6-7

4. OUR WEAKNESS with sin needs WON OVER.

Micah 7:11 (NLT), In that day, Israel, your cities will be rebuilt, and your borders will be extended.

Ephesians 1:11; Philippians 4:13

5. OUR HEARTS must honor OUR SHEPHERD.

Micah 7:14 (NLT), O Lord, protect your people with your shepherd’s staff; lead your flock, your special possession . . .

Psalm 23:1-6

6. OUR HEARTS say no to SHAME.

Micah 7:18 (NLT), Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love.

Micah 7:19 (NLT), Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
