Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

  • As believers we have access to the Holy Spirit’s help.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

  1. The Holy Spirit has been with us from the beginning.

Genesis 1: 1-2
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

2. The Holy Spirit is a Person – He has a will, emotions, and He speaks.

Acts 16:6 (NKJV)
Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV)
And do not grieve he Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Acts 8:29
|The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

Galatians 5:22-23

3. The Holy Spirit lives in us as believers.

John 14:17
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

What Does the Holy Spirit do?

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

  1. He makes us more like Jesus.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

1 Peter 1:2

2. He guides us into truth.

John 16
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

3. He helps us fulfill God’s will.

Philippians 2:13
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

4. He partners with us in prayer.

Romans 8:26-27
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

5. He gives us gifts to bring blessing.

1 Corinthians 12:11
All these are the work of one and the same Sprit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

How Do We Access the Holy Spirit?

  1. Look to the scriptures.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

2. Listen to His voice.

2 Corinthians 13:14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Should be version that says communion of the Holy Spirit

Psalms 46:10
Be still and know that I am God…..

3. Lean on the Him.

Acts 1:8
