“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

• We must live on purpose if we want to see our family flourish.

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

• For our families to flourish, we must purposefully be a place of BELONGING – where each person feels safe, cared for, and loved; and BECOMING – where each person feels supported to develop who they are for the good of the world.

Malachi 4:6
He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.

•A parent’s true job is to take their children by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Three things to remember when living on purpose to create a flourishing family:

  1. It’s about process, not perfection.
  2. It’s about both vision and action.
  3. It takes cooperation and work.

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Habits to avoid when living on purpose:

  1. Getting stuck reacting to unhelpful patterns.
  2. Being tempted to mirror the default values of safety, security, self-focus, and material success that characterizes our culture.

John 15:4
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

• No matter your past, families can grow and change as we purposefully seek healing and embrace wholeness.
