Is the Bible a trustworthy source?

  1. The Bible’s own Testimony.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Romans 15:4 (ESV), For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scripture we might have hope.

2 Peter 1:20-21, 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2. The Testimony of Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:6, After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

3. Testimonies from outside the Bible.

4. Archeological Testimonies.

5. Logical Reasoning.

Who wrote the Bible?

Psalm 68:11 (NKJV), The Lord gave the word: Great was the company of those that published it.

Hebrews 1:1 (KJV), God . . . Spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets.

Galatians 1:11-12 (KJV), 11 But I certify you brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus. Christ.

2 Peter 1:16-21, 1For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

This Bible is the writing of the living God; each letter was penned with an Almighty finger; each word in it dropped from the everlasting lips; each sentence was dictated by the Holy Spirit.”  – Charles Spurgeon

Why the Bible is important to Us?

Psalm 119: 97;103 (NKJV), 97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. 103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.

Why we love God’s word?

  1. It has the power to change us from the inside out.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV), Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

2. It has the power to heal us emotionally and physically.

Psalm 34:13-14 (ESV), 13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”

Colossians 3:15 (ESV), And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

3. It has the power to encourage and edify us.

Ephesians 2:8, For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing it is the gift of God.
