Luke 24:44-45, 44 He said to them (His disciples), “…Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Psalm 40:6-8

Hebrews 10:5-7, 5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scrollI have come to do your will, my God.’”

The Purpose of Christ’s coming:

  1.  Jesus was born for BATTLE (Hebrews 10:5)
  2. Jesus was born to bring CERTAINTY (HEBREWS 10:7)
  3. Jesus was born to bring REDEMPTION (HEBREWS 10:7)

Acts 10:37-38, 37 You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil . . .

How the King of History Changes the Story of Our Lives

Galatians 4:4-5, 4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

  1. EMBRACE God’s Will as expressed in Jesus’s PERSON

Matthew 1:20-21, 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

The name Jesus means “God saves” or “the Lord is salvation.”

Hebrews 10:5-7

Hebrews 1:1-3, 1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son (Jesus), whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being . . .

2. ENERGIZE our hearts in Jesus’s PURPOSES for us

Isaiah 9:6, 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end . . .

Jeremiah 1:12

  1. EMBRACE God’s Will as expressed in Jesus’s PERSON
  2. ENERGIZE OUR HEARTS in Jesus’s PURPOSE for us.
  3. EXPERIENCE God’s Will PERSONALLY

Luke 2:10-11, 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you . . .

A thorough knowledge of the bible is worth more than a college education.” -Theodore Roosevelt, 26th president of the U.S.A.

What a wonderful man this is who freely and frankly acknowledged his weakness. In contrast with a person who is swollen headed with confidence in his own ability. This is why the scripture bears fruit with so few today. (It’s) because scarcely one in a hundred is found who gladly submits themselves to God’s terms.” – John Calvin

Matthew 3:17, And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Matthew 17:5, . . . a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

John 12:28,30, Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 30Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine.

  • He didn’t come merely to tell us heartwarming stories. He came so the story of our life could be changed by God’s love!
